Rerun (June 27; from MySpace MORE blog)
I am on a roll! Our training run last Sunday (I missed the previous weekend) was another five-miler, and I think I'm getting quickly acclimated to the distance, although I'm not yet (nor will possibly ever) go for speed. (The crazy recovery recommendations that one of the coaches recommended probably also helped with avoiding aches, thank goodness.) Actually, I got to the end and wanted to keep going, although I also don't want to push it and end up pulling or straining a muscle. So I opted for being smart. The fundraising is going slowly but surely, although being at almost 10 percent is a bit slow for my comfort, since the race is officially less than four months away. I think I am going to start selling singing telegrams next. Seriously! I already have one taker, although I fear what costume I will have to wear to satisfy this customer. She's merciless. I envision a late-era Elvis getup, complete with wig, or some such get-up. I think I will have to add a rider that rental costs for costumes are an additional fee!
In other news, it is a veritable rain forest here, so I am crossing my fingers that this evening's weekly beginner running group run isn't rained out. I am officially sick of the rain and now don't care one iota if we need it or not. The ground is saturated, hence lovely dog-walks in mud, and there's no relief in the humidity. Blech. Thank goodness the forecast says we're only to endure another day of this before the sun returns. (It teased us all yesterday afternoon, of course during work hours. At least I glimpsed some puffy white clouds and blue sky, even if I wasn't able to be out there enjoying it!)
I got a hilarious postcard from my friend Sarah, who is finishing a six-week trip to Rome. She has decided that postal carriers don't get enough entertainment anymore, so she has taken to writing outlandish fictional postcards intended to perhaps even make the recipient blush. Apparently she ran into Alesandro over pasta limone (a dish I highly recommended she try while there) and he lustily regaled the time when we were swimming in a blue grotto and I inadvertently "revealed myself" to a bunch of Dutch tourists upon emerging from the water. There's more, but that's the gist. That girl is hilarious, and I like the idea of postal entertainment. I may have to take up the hobby myself! Too bad I didn't think to do it during my conference in Baltimore. :-)
OK, now that I'm officially running late for work, I should go.
Now you know MORE!
